Me and my friend want to start doing some covers. I play piano and she plays guitar. I don’t want anything painfully mainstream. Any suggestions? We are both fairly advanced.

How long does it take to learn the basics, and reading notes, and things like that? And if you play piano how long did it take you?

I have been playing piano for 10 years and I’m auditioning for my high school jazz band. I’m not sure what I want to play but i was thinking something like April in Paris or Ain’t misbehavin, any suggetions?

I’ve been trying to learn piano through self-study (and practice) but I can’t get used to the finger positioning. I find myself placing the wrong finger on the key I’m supposed to push very often. How can I fix this?

Also, what are some basic but very effective excercises I can do to help myself start out playing the piano better?

So I decided I would love to learn how to play the piano.

I played the flute for about 4 months (having never played an instrument before) and my teacher said I was really good for being a beginner. So I’m hoping that I would learn piano easier too.

How long do you think it would take to learn how to play. Not amazingly, but decent enough??

I am planning to start learning to play piano. Because of my work schedule, I cannot enroll in any class. So I am planing to learn using books and software like Adventus piano studio.

I want to know in how much time I can expect myself to be able to play piano.
In how much time do people usually learn to play?

I’ve always found it interesting to play piano, but I think I will like it. I do not want to invest hundreds upon hundreds of dollars into it. I would prefer to start out with something cheap like a keyboard and learn via an instructional book. What should I get? I was at Target and saw a keyboard with fewer keys than the piano style. Is there a difference? I would like to mock a real piano electronically as much as possible. What are the best books to learn? What should I buy? I dont know anything about music!
